Barrel racing became more than just a sport for me — it’s been a way to grow, reset and push myself. I’m heading into this season focused on improving, enjoying the journey, and building a stronger partnership with my horse.

The Story

I started barrel racing at Apex Barrel Racing when I was 15, originally as a way of coping and trying something new.

I’d always wanted to give it a go, but my old Thoroughbred couldn’t take me very far due to health issues. Not long after, I bought my Quarter Horse ‘Famous Assassin’, and I’ve just finished my final junior year on him.

It’s been a long and crazy journey so far, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Double R gear isn’t just made to look good — it’s built to last through all seasons and handle real use. That durability is what stands out most to me.

What’s on the horizon

• Place higher than last year at ABHA State Championships
• Qualify for the ABHA National Finals
• Place consistently in the Open 2D
• Slow down a bit, enjoy the season more, and spend more quality time riding

Horse Power

Famous Assassin (“Sass”)
My 8-year-old Quarter Horse and my main competition horse.

He’s always up to something and definitely keeps me on my toes, but I wouldn’t trade him for the world. He’s carried me through some tough moments and has this drive that makes you want to push yourself that little bit harder.

He absolutely loves having a job, and his favourite thing is liberty work.

Road Trip Essential

Tim Tams — always.
And “Leave Me Lonely” by Hilltop Hoods on repeat.

Morning Person or Night Owl?

Somewhere in between — not up before the sun, but definitely not a late night either.

Something Most People Wouldn’t Know

I was born with hyperflexibility.
