Live Life on Your Own Terms

I’m based in Moora, WA and compete in bareback and bull riding. Rodeo’s been part of my life since I was a kid, and it’s something I’ve stuck with, built on and chased properly over the years.

The Story

Mogumber — that’s where it all started.

Mum put me on a sheep when I was 4 for mutton busting back when the New Year’s rodeo was held at the pub. I loved it so much the clown had to pry me off.

After that, I was always dressing up as a cowboy — it’s all I ever wanted to be.

I didn’t actually start competing until after high school. I told Mum I wanted to be a rodeo clown, but she was worried I’d get hurt and signed me up for a rodeo school in Bindoon with the Oversby’s, hoping I’d change my mind.

Instead, I met a cowboy there who helped me start riding at Mogumber — and that was it.

I’ve been competing in rodeo for about 10 years without a sponsor because I didn’t want to rush into anything.

I wanted to wait for something that felt right.

I’d seen Double R around the arena a few times and the crew seemed like a good fit — laid back, solid people. When the opportunity came up, it was an easy decision.

What’s on the horizon

This year I’m aiming to win the open bareback title in WA and push for the rookie title across Australia.

Horse Power

I recently lost my girl Stevi, which has been a big loss, so I’m taking some time before bringing another horse into the team.

At the moment, it’s my two dogs — Annie and Diesel — keeping me busy. Annie’s full of energy, while Diesel’s my retired hunting dog, so I spend a lot of time trying to keep him relaxed.

Morning Person or Night Owl?

Both. I’m a truck driver outside of rodeo, so I’m up around 3am and rolling by 5am — but I don’t switch off easily at night either. My mind’s always going, so I end up working late too.

Something Most People Wouldn’t Know

I’m a certified hot shoe farrier.

Hoodie

I hate the cold — absolutely can’t stand it.

The hoodie is always my go-to. I’ll wear it to work, to the arena, out hunting… with shorts or jeans, doesn’t matter.

And despite the cliché — no one’s stealing it if I’m always wearing it.
