I’m all about chasing runs, learning as I go and making the most of every opportunity in the arena. Whether it’s barrels, poles or something new, I’m always up for giving it a go.

The Story

I’ve been riding horses since I was around 10, but after going to a few rodeos to watch, I knew straight away it was what I wanted to do. About four years ago I started barrel racing with my local club and have been progressing ever since.

Everything about Double R is amazing. The people are so supportive, the gear is great quality, and there’s so much variety - it just makes sense for the lifestyle.

What’s on the horizon

This year I want to compete at more events and rodeos, get my new horse out and started on the barrel pattern, and hopefully travel more - I’m aiming for a trip to New Zealand in winter. I’d also love to give team penning a go.

Horse Power

Dusty is my main horse - a 16-year-old Quarter Horse and my heart horse. She might be older but she’s still the most energetic of the lot. Bluey is my younger horse, a 4-year-old Stock Horse x Appy, and he’s the sweetest - basically a big puppy. And then there’s Hershey, my Border Collie x Koolie, who keeps us on our toes and causes just enough chaos.

Road Trip Essential

Definitely crackers and dip or a fresh fruit salad on hot days - anything easy and refreshing. I couldn’t pick just one song, it depends on the vibe.

Morning Person or Night Owl?

A bit of both - I like getting things done early before the heat, but sometimes it ends up being late afternoons depending on the day. Daylight savings definitely helps.

Something Most People Wouldn’t Know

I’m terrified of the dark, spiders, and somehow still hate getting my own blood taken… even though I’m a vet nurse.

Grooming Bag / Fly Sheet / Polo

This one’s hard! My grooming bag is a must for shows - it’s so much easier than lugging around a full tack box. The fly sheet is also a lifesaver when it’s too hot for a cotton but the flies are insane. And my Double R polo is one of my favourites - super comfy and great quality.
