Hello everyone!
I’m Michaela Dunnet, and I'm excited to share a little about my life and what I've been up to lately.
I live on my family property in Narrikup, Western Australia, where we produce high-quality Black Angus cattle alongside my father and partner, Flynn. Recently, we’ve added a new side hobby to our “ranch” life: breeding a handful of bucking bulls! Fingers are crossed that they’ll make great practice for our home arena as we continue to embrace our passion for rodeo.
When I’m not on the farm, I work full-time at Nutrien Ag Solutions, where I've dedicated the past six years to providing agricultural products and services to our farmers in the Mount Barker region. Working amongst the local farming community while doing what I love is incredibly rewarding.
Outside of work and daily life, Flynn and I travel extensively to rodeos throughout the year. Flynn competes in the open bull ride, while I barrel race my horse Spirit in the Novice category and Randi in the Ladies Open Barrel Race. We’ve ventured as far as the Pannawonica rodeo, soaking in the warmer weather along the way!
I’m excited to share that I recently took out 1st place in the Ladies Barrel Race at the Brunswick Junction rodeo with a time of 16.875 seconds—the only horse and rider to go under 17 seconds. I couldn’t be more grateful to my horse, Randi, for the effort he puts into every run.
Life can be non-stop and busy, but I am incredibly thankful for the experiences we have. Whether travelling to rodeos, meeting new faces, or catching up with familiar ones, it’s the essence of rodeo culture that makes it all worthwhile. The gentle words of encouragement as we walk up the alley, the cheers from supporters at the fence, and the encouragement from my fellow competitors and the Rodeo Rose Family push us to perform our absolute best.
Looking ahead, I have set my sights on one goal for 2025: winning my very own buckle! This aspiration has been a dream of mine since I was a child, and I’m more motivated than ever to make it a reality.
