Hello, everyone!
My name is Kim Piper-Reeves, and I’m thrilled to share my journey with you as a proud ambassador for Double R Western Co.
It all began for me in October 2022 at the Apex Spring Fling, where I dipped my toes into the exciting world of barrel racing. My debut was nothing short of exhilarating: I clinched second place in the 4D category, and from that moment, I was hooked!
Fast forward to January 2024, and I achieved my first major milestone with “Absolutely Aurasome Darlin,” when we secured 1st place in the 2D and earned my very first buckle—a stunning accomplishment that was made even more special by winning a gorgeous saddle!
Life outside the arena is equally as thrilling, and I’m incredibly fortunate to have an amazing husband by my side. His unwavering support is invaluable, even if he humorously acknowledges that “Horses are money pits!” Together, we reside on our beautiful acreage in the southwest, surrounded by various animals, including my three beloved mares. I am hopeful that they will produce future barrel racing champions for me—after all, that’s the dream!
In addition to my passion for barrel racing, my husband and I own a mixed martial arts club in Bridgetown, where we coach individuals of all ages—from kids to adults. We emphasize the importance of confidence, determination, and resilience, striving to inspire everyone to never give up and to perform under pressure.
In both mixed martial arts and barrel racing, I’ve embraced a valuable lesson: it’s never about the loss; it’s always about the lesson. This mindset has helped me navigate life’s ups and downs, no matter the challenge.
For those who may be hesitant about trying something new, let me share a crucial piece of advice: you're never too old to pursue your passions! I began barrel racing at the age of 46, and I can assure you that age is merely a number when it comes to following your dreams.
If there’s one takeaway I’d like you to hold on to, it’s this: don’t stress about having the perfect saddle or the ideal horse. Just make sure you’re rocking Double R Western Co gear, and you’ll be just fine!
Remember, it’s not about what everyone else is doing—focus on having fun and competing against yourself. When you ride into the arena, aim to outdo your last run. That’s the mantra that helps me each time I step up to compete, and I believe it can help you too!
